Judge for Yourself
  1. Paul's opening exhortation “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” Verse 1 A. Question? Would you be comfortable saying; “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ” to your family and friends?
  2. What does it mean to Judge for yourself? “Judge for yourselves...” Verse 13 A. With scripture as your guide: think, discern, and decide for yourself.
  3. Why is this considered a difficult text?  “It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own head, because of the angels.” Vs 10 A. Lets take a Macro view. Big picture, what was Paul addressing? B. Lets take a Micro view. The verses before us.
  4. Examples and principles Paul uses.  “But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” Verse 3 A. Head, hair, coverings? Three examples of headship in verse 3.                                                                B. Ex: from creation in Genesis 2 before the fall.
  5. What is the application today?  “If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.” Verse 16 A. Distinguish between cultural or lasting principles?
