Who is this King of Glory?

 1. Jesus is Sovereign  (Verse 15) “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”

A. The invisible God made visible. Jesus is the exact image of God both in representation and manifestation.

B. The way Paul uses the term “firstborn” here means first in rank, and priority.

2. Jesus is Sustainer (Verse 17) “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

A. Jesus was not only architect of the universe, Jesus is the glue that holds it  together.

3. Jesus is Supreme (Verse 18) “And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.”

A. Jesus is Supreme. There is no one above Him, no one who is more important.

4. Jesus is Sufficient  (Verse 19) “For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.”

A. Paul points out the problem, the remedy and the result. Jesus is sufficient for our redemption.

B. Jesus is sufficient not only in terms of our salvation, but in every area of our lives.
