A Psalm for Your Calm

 1. The reason we FRET  (vs. 1) “Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong...”

A. We often let circumstances and/or people captivate our thinking. We worry about evil and its results in the world. How is worry different than fretting?

2. Look at the FACTS (vs. 2) “for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.”

A. The writer of James reminds us that this life is brief, a mist. But for the wicked and evil it’s all they have. Vs. 10

3. Adjust your FOCUS (vs. 3) “Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.”

A. We have good instructions here. Remember:  we see what we look for!

4. Keep first things FIRST  (vs. 4)  “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

A. Our delight is to be in the Lord. Delighting in the Lord means He is the basis of our pleasure.

5. Do not FORGET  (vs. 5)  “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this...”

A. Do not forget that God is faithful. Give Him all these things that burden you.
