Lessons from Paul

 1. Paul had Passion “To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.” I Corinthians 9:22 A. Paul had a passion to see people come to salvation

2. Paul had a Plan “I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.” Romans 1:13 A. He planned on the places he would go. Yet, he was open to divine appointments. B. He had a plan to be a Godly example. I Thessalonians 2:3-6 C. He had a plan not to be a burden on those he is trying to reach. I Thessalonians. 2:9

3. Paul was Prepared “Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious.” Acts 17:22 A. At Mars Hill Paul didn’t begin with a one size fits all, memorized script. He did not condemn them for their beliefs. He didn’t begin by accusing them of false worship. B. He began where they were at spiritually. “... see that in every way you are very religious.”

4. Paul had Persistence “I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers.” A. Paul endured physical persecution, hunger, thirst, the elements, etc. without being deterred from his plan.

5. Paul believed in Prayer “Paul replied, “Short time or long—I pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.” Acts 26:29 A. He prayed that people would love and accept Jesus as he had. B. We can assume since he taught on spiritual warfare that he prayed about this as well. II Corinthians 4:4

6. Paul knew God’s Power “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” Romans 1:16 A. In the gospel. Paul knew the gospel was enough for salvation. B. By the Holy Spirit. I Thessalonians 1:5
