Administering God's Grace

 1. How can we determine our spiritual gift(s)? “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us…”

A. Study God’s word on gifts. Biblical teaching concerning  spiritual gifts can be found in four places: Romans 12, 1 Cor. 12-14, Ephesians 4:11-13 and I Peter 4:10.

2. How do I develop my spiritual gift? “So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church.” I Corinthians 14:12

A. Acknowledge that God has given you a gift to use for His glory.

B. Seek ways to use your gift within the church. Put them to practice. When you use them do they edify you? Do they  edify others?

C. Learn and refine the skills that will strengthen your gift. Find a mentor that has the gift you are learning to develop.

D. Have an accountability partner. Someone to give feedback and guidance.

3. Recognize the diversity of gifts “There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.” I Corinthians 12:5-6

A.  Different gifts for different service. How many gifts?

4. Be careful not to devalue spiritual gifts “The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, I don’t need you!” ” I Corinthians 12:21

A. By not determining your gift. I Corinthians 12:1

B. By not learning how other gifts work in the body. I Cor. 12:12

C. By neglecting your gift. I Peter 4:10

D. Not liking your gift in comparison of others. I Corinthians 12:29-30

E. By putting down some gifts. I Corinthians 12:15-19 F. By using your gift as an excuse not to serve in other areas.   I Thess. 5:16-18
