To God Be The Glory

 1. Jude’s surprising ASSERTION. Verses 22- 23 "Be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.”

A. Jude suddenly makes a shift in his letter from how we are to respond towards those confused and deceived to a beautiful doxology.

B. Many of Paul’s letters, as well as Hebrews, and I Peter  conclude with greetings to those addressed. But here it is as if Jude was overwhelmed by the Spirit of God.

2. Jude's closing ASCRIPTION'S. Verses 24-25 “To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy, to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”

A. Doxologies typically refer to things God has done or will do, and then they describe attributes of God that make it possible.

B. Jude uses his doxology to remind us of the divine power available to believers as they contend against apostasy.

3. God’s unlimited ABILITY. Verse 24 “To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy,“

A. He is able to keep you from stumbling. What a comforting reminder! We are not only likely to stumble, but we often stumble. But God keeps us from falling into apostasy and ruin.

B. To present you faultless. By God’s grace and Jesus’ sacrifice, we have been washed in his blood, robed in his righteousness, and made partakers of the divine nature.

4. God’s glorious ATTRIBUTES. Verse 25 “to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”

A. The only wise God our Savior. Typically when we encounter the word savior we think of Jesus. Here Jude calls God our  savior.

B. Because he is our Savior, we want him praised and we give him all praise. C. Glory, majesty, power and authority! Now and forevermore, from eternity past to eternity future!
